JULY HOUSING BILL PROVIDES SPECIAL OPPORTUNITY FOR HOME BUYERS

August 6, 2008, Columbus, Ohio – The Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008 was signed on July 30, 2008 and aims to bolster the housing market, strengthen the housing finance system, and help home buyers and borrowers according to the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). Two provisions of this bill are especially important for first-time home buyers who have a limited opportunity to take advantage of both special offerings.

Currently, home buyers can purchase a home with little or no money down. However, the legislation that was recently approved will eliminate seller-funded down payment assistance as of October 1, 2008. After this date, home buyers will be required to finance down payment and closing costs that could have been sponsored by their seller or home builder. Visit www.nehemiahcorp.org for more information.

Eligible first-time home buyers may also take advantage of up to a $7,500 tax credit, depending on annual income. Those who have purchased their first home on or after April 1, 2008 and before July 1, 2009 are eligible. Full details of the program may be found at www.federalhousingtaxcredit.com.

Contact Adrienne Baker with Lifestyle Communities at 614.918.2073 to learn more about both of these special opportunities.
